Paintball has always been one of the favorite sports for people who love great fun and excitement. It is a sport that gets your adrenaline pumping. It has been accepted by players of all ages. This has opened up a huge market for paintball sport accessories industry. One of the main paintball accessories is a paintball ghillie suit. Those who have played paintball with ghillie suit camouflage will never again play paintball without their ghillie suit because the game becomes very dull without the right camouflage accessory. Wearing ordinary BDUs and camouflage clothing just doesn’t cut it anymore.
CHOOSING A PAINTBALL GHILLIE SUIT PATTERN
There are various different types of styles that these suits can come in. These styles can work for a variety of different types of paintball fields such as open fields, heavily wooded, heavily bushy or river bed settings.
The first of these styles is the traditional woodsball style. This is a style that can be used for paintball ghillie suits in that it features fake leaves and grass parts as well as some tree bark patterns. This is a popular suit style for a paintball field that is in the middle of a forest that is not too dry to damp. The woodland and mossy pattern paintball ghillie suit work well here.
Next there is the mossy pattern. It is a style that is best for fields where a good amount of trees and moisture have been found. A mossy type of ghillie suit will feature strong green colors with plenty of green strands that look similar to that of what can be found in a wet forest. The Bushrag mossy pattern is green mixed with black. The colors used are darker than they are for a forest suit.
The timber pattern can be another great option to use. This is a style that is different from other paintball ghillie suits in that a timber suit is one with light olive colors and resembles fallen down trees. The timber is between a woodland and desert color. It can be used to help with getting a person to blend in with trees and dead wood.
The last of these style options is the desert style. This is a type of style that features accents like dead grass and rotted bark. Other features include fake branches and dead leaves. It is best for paintball fields that are not very moist and feature primarily brown colors. It is used in states like Arizona, Texas, California, New Mexico and Nevada. If you field is mainly tall grass, desert is a great pattern.
CHOOSING A TYPE OF PAINTBALL GHILLIE SUIT
Paintball ghillie suits will give you a competitive advantage over the other paintball players who are only wearing BDU camouflage. Once you figure out what color or pattern you want, you need to determine the type to get. The type of paintball ghillie suit you choose is move dependent on your style of play rather than the game.
When choosing a type of ghillie suit for paintball you have to first decide on the type of player you are. One factor that is often forgotten is weather conditions. Playing paintball in summer heat and hot weather with a full ghillie suit is not recommended. Ghillie suits retain alot of body heat. If you are playing in hot conditions, think about using shorter ghillie camouflage like a tracker or short poncho. Also, look at suits that use only ghillie netting as its base.
STATIONARY SNIPER
If you are the type that likes to snipe. You can get a full ghillie suit that has more material and provides better cover. The downside is that these suits will limit your movement and speed but you won’t care about it that much. A full 1 piece ghillie suit or ghillie poncho with be sufficient. Also, because paintball games don’t usually last too long, you may not need the sniper ghillie suits with the extra padding for crawling and comfort.
RUN AND CREEP
If you are the type of paintball player that likes to sprint up to the battle lines and then sneak up at close range, we recommend the lighter, synthetic ghillie suits that don’t cover your legs or are pants sets. The ghillie suit can be a 2 piece combination, jacket and pants, or a 1 piece short poncho. Full ponchos are difficult to move in and you have to pin then up or hold them up while running which would be hard when you’re holding a paintball marker with your hands.
You should also cover up your paintball gun with a ghillie rifle cover. You don’t want to leave it exposed
CLEANING A PAINTBALL GHILLIE SUIT
You need to be able to hose off a paintball ghillie suit at the end of the day, unless you don’t get hit at all. For this reason we suggest a synthetic ghillie suit instead of a jute or burlap one. You can hose down and synthetic suit and then air dry it. The jute suits will mat up while drying.
